My Thoughts on DeAndre Hopkins Trade

In the midst of these turbulent times of havoc across our globe, it seems the start of NFL free agency can give us a small escape. As my favorite time of the NFL season is the months leading up to the draft and the draft itself, I’ve tried to follow every signing and trade across the league. The first day did not disappoint. We’ve seen many franchise tags disposed of (no big surprises) and unique signings across the league. Whether it's Austin Hooper to Cleveland or the subsequent Atlanta trade for Hayden Hurst, there is no bigger deal than what went down in Houston. DeAndre Hopkins is going to Phoenix.

Wow is all I can say. My first thought was that the Texans must be getting a fuck ton of assets. Two first-round picks?? Nope. Not even close.

The Houston Texans traded away the best wide receiver in the entire NFL (in my opinion, don’t care if you agree) for a washed-up running back that had one good year, a second-round pick, and a fourth-round pick NEXT YEAR. I mean, what the hell is chokemaster Bill O’Brien thinking?? I just applaud the Cardinals because wow. It could not have worked out better for Arizona.

  • OROY Kyler Murray gets tremendous help
  • Larry Fitzgerald receives less attention and gets to be truly a great WR2/3
  • Arizona clears big cap space dumping the ludicrous deal David Johnson received for his one solid year of 2016
  • Kenyan Drake becomes full-time starting back
  • Can now acquire star OT with #8 pick

I honestly just applaud the Cardinals, a team I never truly cared about. They absolutely won the hell out of this deal. I know my take is the majority, but there’s a reason for that. Bill O’Brien is an absolute idiot for trading away his best weapon for a player that’s a potential roster cut. Smh.
